The 29er and Other Trail Bikes

I have wanted to make a 29" wheel bike for a long time.  This type of bike was first developed by Wes Williams with influence by Bruce Gordon Cycles.  The 29" wheel bike is a trail bike which has 2" wide tires that fit on to wide 700c rims.  These big wheel bikes are best suited to dirt roads, carriage paths, abandoned rail beds, etc.  However, these bikes can be ridden anywhere.  The wheels are so big that you have to build a frame and fork to fit them.  I would like to note that I would not recommend this type of bike for anyone under 5'8" as the frame fit would be compromised.  People under 5'8" would be better suited on a bike with 26" wheels.  So on that note, this page is not so much a 29er page as it is a trail bike page!

As with all of my other bikes I offer, this is a custom built bike, TIG welded [Not lugged or fillet brazed] Columbus Nivicrom steel frame and fork. I can make this bike for any type of components or drive train that you want. With special dropouts, I can even make it to work both as a single speed and with derailleurs on the same bike. Some people just like the looks of the super fat tires but want to use them as commuters with fenders, rack mounts and custom racks too…that is fine and an option.

This frame is only offered in my Columbus ZONA Nivicrom tube set with a Nivicrom large straight bladed uni-crown fork [no brazed option, flat crown]. Available in any color with or without panels and comes with a custom headbadge.
