![]() RohloffI now offer Rohloff specific bicycles (14 speed internally geared hub). They can be built in a variety of styles and wheel sizes of 20 1 1/8”, 20 x 1.75”, 24”, 26”, 650B, 700c and 29”! These bikes are built specifically for the Rohloff 14 speed hub, utilizing the Rohloff sliding dropouts. These dropouts allow for the use of an OEM hub without the torque arm and an external shifter box [On hub]. This combination gives a cleaner look as well as less weight and an easier rear wheel removal. I set the frame up with a clean cable routing for smooth operation that is aesthetically pleasing. The bikes pictured best represents a typical ANT super-commuter Rohloff bike. These bikes shown feature 26" wheels and one equipped with a Schmidt Dyno hub, dual E-6 headlights, Spanninga taillight, Brooks B-17 saddle, and a custom front rack. These bikes pictured are set up with dropbars or ANT style upright bars. [In order to use drop bars OR moustache bars you must utilize the shifter nub on the stem for the Rohloff twist shifter]. Like all my other frames these are custom, TIG welded [Not lugged or fillet brazed] of Columbus butted steel tubing and fitted to your riding style. I can style them to fit your aesthetic and positioning interests such as a level top tube or up sloping top tube to get the handlebars higher. With different tube set options and wheel/tire choices these bikes can be built for heavy touring, off road riding or lighter sport touring or road. I now offer a few frame options for different styles of bikes. I have a brazed option which has a brazed, flat [or semi-sloping on wider forks] fork with curved blades along with brazed headtube rings and diamond shaped bottle re-enforcements. I also have a light tube set [Columbus LIFE] option for those bikes that will not be carrying any gear [no racks]. As you already know these hubs are quite expensive, however I am very interested in having one based on good feedback from my customers: “The bike is great. Nice around town, useful for dirt roads, but comfortable for longer distances on paved roads. Last weekend I took it on a 100 kilometer ride. The Rohloff hub is really good. It's just super for running around a hilly city with lots of stopping and starting and different grades. Shifting under power is instantaneous and I find myself shifting as if it were a car--up and down two or three gears in sequence for every start/stop. And with the low gear I can climb _anything_, even the notorious hill in our neighborhood that the mountain bikes come to try out. Yet, for longer rides on good road, the hub rarely goes below gear 8, which means it's quiet and efficient (the whirring starts at gear 7 and below). “ Ed Slaughter- Portland Oregon.
